Clacksmith Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2026
Clacksmith is a local-first macOS keyboard sound utility. It plays local sound effects when count-only key-down and key-up values maintained by macOS for the current login session change.
Data Collection
Clacksmith does not collect, sell, transmit, or share personal data. The app has no network analytics, advertising SDK, tracking SDK, cloud sync, or crash telemetry service.
Keyboard Activity
Clacksmith does not request Input Monitoring and does not receive keyboard events. It compares only cumulative key-down and key-up count values supplied by macOS for the current login session. The API provides no event object, key identity, key code, characters, typed text, source process, clipboard contents, window contents, documents, or event contents.
Clacksmith does not store typed text because typed text is never received.
Counter changes are used transiently and are not stored. Clacksmith does not retain key-event history, key/category counts, timestamps, or usage statistics. Build 2 deletes the obsolete local usage-statistics payload created by build 1.
Local Storage
Clacksmith stores app data locally on your Mac. Local storage may include:
- app preferences, such as volume and selected sound pack;
- imported sound pack metadata;
- audio files you import or create as local sound packs.
User-imported audio files remain local to the app container unless you choose to move or delete them outside the app.
AppleScript
Clacksmith may accept local AppleScript commands for app control. AppleScript support is local control only and is not used to transmit data.
