Common Setup Checks

• Confirm Clacksmith is enabled from the menu bar.
• Confirm Clacksmith is awake and its volume is above zero.
• Check the selected sound pack and volume in Clacksmith settings.
• Check that the selected audio output is available.
• If imported sounds do not play, confirm you have the rights to use those local audio files and import them again.

Clacksmith requires no keyboard permission. It responds only to count changes reported by macOS for the current login session. Modifier-only presses do not produce sounds; on some keyboards, volume, brightness, and eject keys may not produce sounds. Key autorepeat is not counted.

Privacy

Clacksmith is local-first, never receives key identity or typed text, and does not retain keyboard activity. Read the Clacksmith Privacy Policy.
